Keep the running up would be a good start

try running a couple of times a week faster than the pace you need to get your time but for a shorter distance and one slower run that builds to slightly more than the race distance n

Would sticking to a predefined schedule help you with your motivation? There's quite a few of them on the net which will (theoretically) prepare you for a sub 1h 10k.

Good luck
