When you come back and run in the chilly uk, your times will improve due to the warm weather training

Someone has been reading my mind.
I did my first Half on Wednesday and am planning on running my second 10k tomorrow. I might have gone crazy, but I feel right now that the half has made me much stronger and I probably have a good chance of breaking my 10k pb tomorrow. As I said I might have gone bonkers but it will be fun finding out.

Hi Ali, my gut feeling seems to have been right. Official times are not up yet but my Garmin timed it at 48.45 which is 3 minutes faster than my previous 10k pb (is it ok to talk about pb's given the fact that I have only ran 2 10k's?). So very pleased, it was a much tougher course as well, 1,125 feet of elevation compared to 540 on the previous course and most of the race was run on a gravel track rather than tarmac.
First 2k were hard going, a combination of going out a bit too hard and fatigue from Wednesdays half, but after that I was fine.
So all in all very chuffed.

Well done- sounds like a damn good run on a tough course!
2 races? Dammit- you can talk PBs after only 1, technically!

Thanks Ali.
Official result has been published came in at 49.02, although it was hand times, no chip timing at this event and I started at the very back (a mistake, it turns out I shouldn't have been as far back as I thought).
Although happy to take the 49.02 as it will be easier to break next time and give me a bigger boost when I do so.
I am starting to think that LeMond was right - "It doesn't get easier, you just get faster."

Thanks Jo!
Did the first one this evening. Anyway, it was hilly, hot, and I basically died (or wanted to, it would have been a good reason to stop!) after 2k. But the first 2k I ran very well, until I met THE KILLER HILL. It's the first hill that's killed me like that - and as it was 3 laps, most of the rest of the race was spent either dreading the KILLER HILL or dying trying to crawl up it.
But my next race is flat, it will be a blessing, I survived this one, and it gives me confidence for the next one, and my legs will be so happy not to be running uphill, I will feel like I am floating.
Hopefully
