I was always told to go at least one size up with running shoes as your feet tend to get a bit bigger when hot. The accepted is wisdom is that you should have a thumb's width between your toes and the end of the shoe.
I'm a 5' 10" bloke with size seven wide feet and have difficulties getting shoes to fit.

I know what you mean but I already do this as I have no option, my feet only ever fit half my shoe. Don't know what size they are but I can get them into a size one's.

I've gotta sort soon though as pounding the streets in crappy kids trainers is doing my feet no good.

I've got myself some small shoes at last, I have. My first pair of running shoes, a size too big but they look great.

That's because your feet are wallowing round in them! You got thick socks to wear with them??

Bet you look like a real runner now!!!

Dimple, as an alternative to wearing thicker socks, you could try adding an extra insole to the shoes. I've done this on more than one occasion, and it seems to work. Just an idea.

Out of interest, where did you get them from in the end?

Got them off the internet. They are support trainers as I over pronate, but went straight out in them last night, ran 8 miles and my right foot still went numb.

I normally have extra insoles in my trainers and gel supports, for next time I will put those back in see if that helps.
