we did the touring through the States thing (South West and Mexico), and the motor home can be a bit of a hindrance. If you're sightseeing, remember you have everything with you all the time, you have to think about where to park it up, types of road/track etc.
It is tricky, but we found it much better to book all the hotels en route in advance and hire a car. That way you are just hopping between hotels and it's much easier then to just get in the car and go off for the day wherever you may be.
We booked all our hotels etc through the internet, direct with the hotels. It's much cheaper that way...just takes some planning... which is all part of the fun really

Did anyone else see that episode of Top Gear with the worlds coolest motorhome. It had granite surface tops plasma TV beautiful inside and best of all a two seater sports car stashed underneath.

yep, saw that too. You could buy a pretty decent house for the same money though!

I saw that... I wanted it!
I've got a plan now I think - I'm going to do a 3 week, 3 leg trip, fly over to san fran, travel around there and cali for a week and a bit, then hop on a plane to nashville for a few days, and then hop on another plan to New York and hang out there for a week and a bit and fly back home. Will get a car in cali and ten, but not so sure about driving round new york lol.
OoOo I'm ever so excited. Just need to start planning (which I'm anal, so like doing), and start booking! Was thinking start of september...

I can recommend northern California. or perhaps Oregon. They are far prettier and have better running trails than the East coast. My ex wife was from northern cali, so I have been there a lot. You can also get out into the mountains if you want some adventure. I particularly like Monterey and Santa cruz. I wouldn't run in southern cali in summer. Far too hot, but parts of northern cali are a lot cooler. Monterey is like 70f all year round.

Yeah, I was thinking I really wanna see stuff around san fran, I have a mate from there whose recommended a ton of stuff, although he was quite drunk last night so whether or not I can trust these is one thing... - but then wanted to get out and see all the national parks and the pretty stuff.
I'm going to start planning now, was thinking of going at the start of Sept.
