The thread killer

I have noticed that I have an uncanny knack of being able to kill a thread with one post.
This is always unintentional.

For example:

yesterday, the bum warming thread was going so well and then I came along.

There are plenty more examples of my talents.

Are there any posts that you have made which you'd like to withdraw so that the thread may be brought back to life?

Is anyone going to reply to this?

Are my social skills really that poor?

Well... complaining about it is a BIT emo...

Perhaps you haven't learnt the art of subverting the topic of the thread in order to draw it out... most threads that I take part in go off topic. For example..

Has anyone noticed how awesome elegant touch french manicure nail varnishes are?! They've actually made my nails grow quicker because they make them stronger...

I'm not compliaining!!!!

Perhaps you need to learn the art of understanding what you read!!! :

It's just an observation.

To subvert a topic would be to completely change it's direction. If you're adding a new twist to the same topic, that is what is supposed to happen.

If you feel the need to ramble on about your nails, start a new thread!!!

Now you mention it I have noticed my nails growing a lot quicker lately ANS!

Worry not hotfoot... to be honest the forum would be a better information resource if threads were killed off once questions had been answered/fully debated rather than straying wildly off-topic... in theory the off-topic stuff should be in the off-topic section - but then I guess that wouldn't entertain current forum members quite so much! N'er mind eh!

But we are in Off topic...

AND if you're going to be pedantic so that people feel like complete idiots then of course they're not going to reply... for fear of coming off as even more of an idiot. I have no qualms with people thinking I'm an idiot however.... *posts away*.

I was just trying to be slightly amusing I apologise, I promise form now on all my posts will be about nothing but running.

Apologies if my post came off as an kind of an attack on the nature of people's posts ANS... reading it back I can see that it could be interpreted that way!

The forum is as successful as it is for the very fact that it's a friendly forum, people feel welcome and threads are able to take a light hearted approach, responding to the original post and also being amusing for other members to read...

my 'in theory' bit of waffle was merely to say that if someone was searching for a definitive answer to a question, it'd be easier to find if all posts were directly in response to the threads original question - It certainly wouldn't make for an entertaining read, and as your comment suggests, would probably lead to the demise of the forum.

That's probably because I always like to have the last say How childish eh?

One thing I think that is great about this forum, is that it never puts anyone down for asking a question - There's been quite a few forums that I've been a member of in the past (non-running related) who will crucify people for asking a question without spending like three weeks searching for the answer in previous threads or elsewhere on the net before starting a new. Great way to welcome new members eh!

Chillax I'm a big girl, I didn't take it personally or anything I was just being the resident child...

But I do think that as both a reference tool for it's members, it's also a community. To me that means being able talk about everything...
