Pre 10k food/drink?

Running a 10k tomorrow, at 9.30am, and would like some advice as to what to eat/drink pre race. I do not really want to get up at 6am in order to have breakfast so would like something that will provide sufficient energy without being too heavy. I assume that I should not eat too heavily today?

Also, is it best to carry water around or a particular sports drink?

Hello, Adam
I'm doing a 10k tomorrow too. I'll just have a cereal oat bar and a couple of bananas with a sports drinks a couple of hours before. It varies from one person to another but I think most people keep it light. Porridge seems to be popular with a lot of folk.

I only usually get up about twho hours before a race, and that's because I want to make sure I get to the race in time and warm up properly.

I usually have cereal and a cuppa before I leave the house, and a banana and red bull before the race.

Most races have water stations, so there probably won't be much need to carry a drink with you.
