Looking back, I am disappointed not to run it sub 41 mins because I was a little rushed to get to the start and started much further back than I should have, thus spending the first 2k with slower people holding me up!!

Hmm.. My official 'gun time' was 42.40 but my 'chip time' was 41.08. I was placed according to my gun time even though the chip records when one crosses the start and finish line. I am inclined to go with the chip time because surely that is the more accurate, considering I crossed the start line over a minute after the start of the race?

Yeah, and like you said Adam, you started further back which means that you actually had further to travel than those who started the race on the line.

indeed, chip time all the way for PB purposes

Fantastic run Adam, a bloody good time for a first race!!! You'll go far if you stick at it

I shall remain fairly smug at my finish time prediction

Good prediction!

I don't want to get carried away though as the weather was pretty perfect; not cold, not warm and no wind/rain! If it was as warm as it has been for the past two days I'm not sure I would have managed that!

Also a little concerned that I have set myself up for a fall by setting a good time, maybe it would have been better to chip away at the time race by race. I'm not convinced that I can do sub 40 in less favourable conditions!!

I wouldn't worry about it Adam; I ran some of my fastest races in "less than favourable" conditions (thunder storms/heavy rain etc...).
