New to 5k

Just run my first planned 5k. I say planned one where ive timed it properly. Its only my second since i started running again 5 weeks ago. Its not a great time but came in at 30:34 which im really happy with. Especially as im a big lad weighing in at 17st 6. Met my first target which was to run a 5k timed. My 2nd target is now to get a sub 30. Really happy tonight.

Well done you

that's a good result and a lot of people would be very happy with that time - I know I would be - 5k was never my distance!

I'm aiming to be able to run 5k without stopping by the end of feb at the latest...

What's the issue with the walking bits? All my C25K runs, even the very early ones, were all fine with Strava and Garmin Connect. I was using a GPS watch though, not a phone app - I'm pretty sure my daughter was able to log her early C25K sessions using her phone though, before she got a GPS watch.

In the strava app when you're recording an activity, go into the settings and turn auto pause off for running. On android the settings button is at the top left of the record activity thing.

Cool ill try that, i had auto pause on for a rk run i did and it was fine. Although that was pure running. Guess when doing intervals its just confuses it. It said something needs more data to analyse yesterday. Ill try with it turned off tomorrow, not worried about timings on the c210k so will try it

Auto pause generally works based on your speed so it's easy to confuse it if you're walking slowly. The website will still determine your moving time etc regardless of auto pause.

I always have auto pause off, but for intervals I usually turn auto lap off and hit the lap button at the start and end of each interval. That way on strava/garmin connect the efforts and rests are individual laps and easy to compare. I use a watch though, not sure that's practical on a phone.

It's annoying to lose runs, but don't sweat it too much. Make a rough guess of the distance and time and add it as a manual activity on Strava. That way when you look back you'll know you ran and roughly what you did even if the specifics are lost.
