5k Fun Run
I am training for a 5K fun run . It is taking place on August 10th , I decided to do this one before running in any of the more serious runs  .

Things are going well with my 5 K training .Went to my sports chiropractor last night and the only thing that was stuck was my ankle .I am very much enjoying the running with the running group as well as the runs that I am doing on my own .

Running again last night with the group .We only have 5 people left that are training for the 5K ,All the rest have switched to the 2.5 K .It was very hot and humid last night hard to run but made it anyhow .I could not sleep last night I felt very energetic and hyper ......first time this has happened since started running .

Woke up this morning feeling pretty rough .....very tired .I have not been able to sleep for the last 3 nights ... tossing and turning ...stare at the ceiling all night long .I have a running book that says that I might be over training ....I am taking today off and see how I feel tomorow .

I think we've all been struggling to sleep the last few nights ttr - it's so hot and sticky and just generally very uncomfortable.
Rest is never a bad thing but honestly, if you were overtraining, then you'd be feeling completely drained and physically exhuasted (not just tired), picking up little coughs/colds/infections, be irritable, struggle to concentrate, struggle with training, perhaps be depressed, elevated resting heart rate, and a myriad of other things. That's not to say you're not suffering with any of these symptoms, but generally one would find it hard to be overtraining whilst working towards a 5k (unless of course you're competing at a fairly elite level) - if you are overtraining then you really need to be looking at a proper recovery from it. Training should be greatly reduced in terms of frequency, intensity and duration for a good week or so.
In the circumstances it does sound like you feel the need for a rest, in which case it's probably wise to take one

I am not a 20 year old spring chicken .......lol but that is not my excuse ....lol.All my children have the sniffles and a cold .....so might have picked it up from them .It is also very hot and humid here . I am planning to run today as I am feeling much better I don't feel bad when I am running ....it is many hour after the run that I am feeling hyper and irritable ......like I need to go run again .Then of course I stare at the ceiling all night and in the morning have a hard time dragging myself out of bed ......lol.

I have registered for a run happening this evening .This is a 25th aniversary run for the Running Room .Registration was free and we all get a aniversary hat .The run is called the 20 minute challenge and it is to get the community members off the sofa and get active ,They can pick to run or walk .However the walkers and runners that are taking a clinic ,will be walking and running with their instuctors for whatever time they are up to right now .For me that will be 3 x 10 /1

I had a blast last night around 300 people showed up , I know not a lot ....but more runners than I have ever seen in one place ....lol.Extremly hot , making it very hard to run ....sweat just pouring off me .However it was very exilirating and the hats very nice ....a collectors item for sure .

The fun run is on Monday ....We were told that we are running to finish , not to set any records ......lol.I am now running the 5K in 35 minutes instead of 45 minutes .....so that is an improvement .Will let you all know how I do in the Fun Run .
