Indigestion

Hi All,

I am new here and (relatively) new to running as a sport.
I find that I sometimes get a bad indigestion type pain like heartburn when running. I don't eat for at least a couple of hours before a run and it is not a stitch.

Any advice?

Thanks

In the first instance it might be wise to get checked out by your GP to confirm what the cause of this pain is. Particularly if you're (relatively?) new to running. There are a few different causes of pain, some more important than others. But the other thing is to make sure you're stretching well before you run and not taking on too much fluid...

Yep, i'd second that, getting checked out by your GP.

Another thought that struck me is, do you run with a relaxed pace and even breathing...if not maybe you're taking in too much air...do you burp much during or after running?

I often run just after a heavy meal because of my work routine. I find that if I run at a very measured and relatively slow pace I achieve the distance required with no indegestive probems at all.
