Make sure you stretch out those tired muscles buts its much more fun than running on a treadmill. This morning I was running along the sea front - it was gorgeous

I also asked at the gym today about a running club, they meet on a Thursday and do 4 miles, I said I was worried that I wouldn't be able to cope with that, and the lady who organises it said that she would stay with me and if i needed to walk i could.. so I'm going to go on Thursday night and see how it goes !!

I feel really pleased with myself ! I have also had my running analysed and got some correct running shoes !!

Thanks all !!
Good luck tonight and have fun

Well.. went to the running club.. they were lovely.. the lady who takes it, held back with me the whole way... but I ran it all !! Didnt walk at all ! It was over 4 miles and I did it in about 50 mins, so not very fast but got there, they have asked me to go again next week, but i am a bit conscience of the fact that someone has to stay back with me... its a bit embarrassing

Seems to me that you`ve found a good group Dawnie.

Stick with it and don`t feel embarrassed.

You'll be fine Dawnie...we all start as newbie club members and you'll soon be the one running with a newbie slower runner yourself I bet!

Go for it Dawnie and don't worry that someone has to hang back - they may actually enjoy running with you and its a good way to improve running with other more experienced runners.

Like the others have said don't be embarrased and besides they wouldn't invite you back if they didn't really mean it. Great news

Hi all....need a bit more advise Been out with the club tonight, struggled with the heat, but then 3/4 of the way round (about 4miles) I got really bad burning pain in the ball of my left foot, so bad i had to stop and take my trainer off and massage my foot, it eased of enough for me to finish, but it really bothered me, cause I was looking forward to tonight, and feel annoyed that I had to stop a couple of times... am suffering with shin splints a bit, but they seem to be fadeing, now this !! any advise ????

Hi Dawnie

It's not your trainers is it? If you don't have correct trainers it could explain the foot and shin splint problems....

Hi Dawnie,
Look up metatarsalgia (I think that's how its spelt). You can get foot pads to put under the balls of your feet www.drfoot.co.uk but as twinkle toes said its worth getting your shoes checked out. If it continues to be a problem it might be worthwhile consulting a podiatrist - go for one that specialised in sports.
