Hello Stotty,

The best thing would be to join a club because you will soon find other people within the club who run at your pace and that could lead to another running partner.

Also, runners pace varies as you have good and bad times through injuries and the like and this can mean that you will run with different people.

I like to run on my own but it's also very rewarding running with a club and you get the chance to make a lot of friends.

I can understand though how your friend feels, running is very hard work if you are trying to keep up with someone whose pace is faster. maybe you could still meet up, not so often, and run at her pace so that you can chat as you're running which is equally as enjoyable.

If she knows you understand how she's feeling, but miss her company, maybe she'll see how it has upset you.

Maybe she would join the club too.

Lizzie

Can you just for one run a week run at the pace of your partner and then the rest of your sessions run either on your own or as part of a club?

Certainly helped me, I was in the position of your friend when I started out but luckily my mate did not mind running at my pace once a week, it both helped me still enjoy running with someone and over a period of time actually improved my overall speed.

I never thought of it that way, ive asked her to do some hill training with me so its not really a speed session as such, well it definately wont be coz ive never tried it before. We'll both be in the same boat if you like. Ps Granty did you have a good birthday?
