Glad to hear you're settling down in your new abode and found a suitable running club nearby. You'll soon have a whole new circle of friends and full social diary. We're a very friendly lot up here you know! Hope everything works out well for you.
Cheers!

Most of the women I'd met the week before weren't there last week so the after drinks session wasn't so much fun but I enjoyed my run - the coach that takes my group is 66 and keeps telling me he is slowing down just before he goes haring off down the road with me in his wake trying to keep up. He sounds like someone off the hovis adverts (well the old ones).

I also went out for a run with the womens network group last night as well and we did some hill and speed training - it was really fun runnig along the streets of Chorley in a long line then sprinting to the front of the line waving your arms in the air screaming now. You can imagine we had some funny looks. I'm planning to continue gong to both groups I've been struggling with my runs early in the week as I don't like to run on my own in the dark and I have to get up early for work. My office is right in the centre of Manchester overlooking Piccadilly Gardens and I haven't sussed out anywhere suitable to run at lunchtimes.

I've put in for a local race the Gin Pit 5 in two weeks time my mileage wasn't up to a suitable level for the Pier to Pier last Sunday.

I'm starting to settle into my new home - it was all a bit strange at first but now I'm starting to get things slowly organised. Of course being right in the centre of town parking can be a bit of a headache but its close to the railway station.

An old friend of mine stopped off at mine last night on his way back from Scotland and we went out for a couple of drinks. I've not really been out in Chorley before but mosts pubs were empty or closed. I don't think he was impresed.

I really like living there - I have up and down days.

Pubs aint wot they used to be! As for Scottish ones, at New Year the one at Crinan was always shut, one at Balcary Bay was shut last year, and a few years ago one on Islay was open for local people only at Hogmanay - by the back door.
Anyhow, glad you like Chorley and getting to know people there. By joining a club you can always turn to local people for advice about best pubs/shops/running circuits, etc.. And the more you settle in, the less down days you'll have.
Cheers!

SE - maybe an opportunity to become a Pub Landmistress and then we could hold a Runners Forum meet there.
