Hi all,

As always, I've got a few more questions for ya...

I've been following the great advice so far to the letter and it's paying off. I went on the cross-trainer (thanks for the tip Granty) on Sunday at the gym instead of a run in order to give my blisters more time to heal and for my shins to calm down.

My shins are fine and the blisters are about half-way through healing today so I thought I'd risk a run. I've worked out a longer course now (3.1 miles) with a view to it being good training for a potential 5K run in the future.

Before I set off I put vaseline on the arches of my feet (on my existing blisters), I wore my new 'double skin' socks that I got from Run And Become, I wore my new arch supportive Nikes. I also put vaseline on the top inside of my thighs (where I was suffering from chafing before). I then set off...

I did the run in 30.55 (I walked about a quarter of a mile towards the end) and was very happy just to complete it (its the longest run I've done so far).

Now I've got another problem... chafed nipples!!!

I know you are all just going to think I'm some sort of kinky runner prancing around the streets of Fife in a leather-studded cap and a ball-gag but I'm not... I promise!

Am I meant to be putting vaseline on my nips? Am I wearing the wrong type of top (I think its meant to be a running/sports top)? Does this happen to other people?

As always, help/ideas welcome...

Cheers

vase the nips up as well, quite a common problem for those of us that protrude ! (I'm not one I should add) but my friend looks like madonna on a cold day.

Also, not read all the replies so this might have already been said, I found rubbing some surgical spirit on 'healed' blister areas to be great, hardens the skin up.

Your bits and pieces will get use to the rubbing / friction over time, so you might not be lubbed up all year !

First thing to do is try another top JT.

I`ve got one I can`t wear for the same reason.

Any recommendation on material / manufacturer ??

I'll try lubing myself up in the meantime... if it works out ok then I'll not need a new top urgently...

It's costing me a fortune this running lark!

To be honest JT I wear all sorts of tops from lots of manufactuers, but I always make sure they are made of the material that dosn`t hold the sweat.

If you can afford to invest in moisture wicking tops they will make such a difference to you as you won't have a wet t-shirt clinging to your body and will also stop you getting cold.

Try startfitness.co.uk or sweatshop.co.uk or even better PM Dan (Admin) and get a runners forum t-shirt moisture wicking also. The websites you may already be aware of and they do some great deals.

The nearest TK MAXX is Edinburgh for me so I'll have to bob in next time I'm in the smoke...

That's where I get all my shoes and most of my running gear from. But it's handy for me, as their main shop isn't far from here.
