Thumbs up

It's a plant of the daisy family which is used to reduce the effects of colds .
It is also used in other products I think you can get a herbal tea with it in as well

Some people are allergic to plants from the daisy family so the usual thing applies Its up to you whether or not you take it

If you google it there's loads of info about it!

Cheers mate... appreciate the info. Will look into it.

I usually take Vit C as already mentioned but always open to new ideas...

I think that there is a lot to be said for BELIEVING in the cures/safeguards that we each employ (which naturally brings into question the efficacy of those dietary supplements). I've frequently come across media-reported scientific opinions which question the ability of Vitamin C to protect against colds; but my belief has never been swayed. Either it works anyway; or it works because I think it works. In the end, it doesn't really matter.

I agree with you 100% pedestrian. I've read of amazing results with drug trials where the patients with the most beneficial outcome of the drugs were taking the placebo!

A lot of colds occur because we are run down and our natural defences are at a low. Even believing vitamin C will work is probably enough to put us in a better frame of mind and bolster our own body.

Anyhoo.. touch wood, I've had my annual cold for the year. It was the usual affair of me with bits of tissue stuck up my nostrils, wrapped in a blanket watching re-runs of Dads Army... always a great two days...!

TT, believe me, it is the sort of thing, once witnessed, that you can never really forget.

Man-Flu at its virulent worst. The only thing capable of bringing a tiny bit of respite to the shameful picture of self-pity is the occasional bowl of chicken soup...

... Something else which has been said regarding Vit.C, is that if you take it, you should take it consistently (like the instructions usually say:"one-a-day"). This is due to the fact that the body is unable to actually store a supply in the system. If you suddenly stop your intake, any immunity levels suddenly drop, leaving you vulnerable to infection.

Maybe the following bears-out the theory?...
... When I was a child, My mum used to give me "Haliborange" tablets every day (a children's Vit.C supplement). I thought they were great, and sometimes used to sneak an extra couple, thus adding to the recommended dosage, and maybe giving me an unnaturally boosted immune system. I can remember on more than one occasion that after these higher doses, I came down with a cold. I could never understand it. I was taking these tablets to prevent colds... Here I was taking more of them (implying to me at the time that I should be even less likely to be ill)... And I was getting colds!
Was it the reversion to a normal (or maybe missed?) dosage the cause of those childhood colds?
