Another newbie

Hi there.
I decided to lose weight, and get fit, a mate at work introduced me to the concept of running to get fit and has challenged me to get fit enough to be able to run a 10k, he says obviously when i get fit enough. SO there you go, thats my introduction to the world of running. Ive only been out once (last night) and Im going again tonight and I can honestly say that the first time I did it, which was a mixture of jogging for 60seconds and then walking for 90 seconds for a total of 20mins
The inspiration for this came off a previous thread on this site from a guy who said he wanted to start running and he seemed to do really well.

Anyway what I wanted to say is that all you guys are so supportive and its so refreshing to see the support us unfit,. fat, out of shape or just people looking for inspiration get from yourselves...

Fabulous, and I certainly will post how Im getting along as I start on my way to being able to run and not look so ridiculous haha

I am new to running and been doing a run/walk program for five weeks now. I do it with a friend of mine and I am really enjoying it. Dont feel bad if you need to walk as well as running, I can feel myself getting fitter and I am finding it easier to increase the running each week. Good luck and dont be tempted to give up

Well ive been out a total of 5 times, and i can say i am starting to enjoy it! (never thought id say that!) I am running at the right speed now and feel bad on days when im not running or seeing my trainer. I need to continue running as i cant afford him for much longer. The best thing about running, its free!! I just need to try and find the time what with having a 1 year old around me constantly!

Only issue i have is that ive been seeing him for 3 weeks and running but havent lost any weight at all!!!! I now its only been a short while, but surely i should be seeing some sort of loss????

I'm no lighter than I was 6 months ago (though I suppose I did gain a little over xmas which I've since lost)

Something is happening to your body, despite whether or not your weight stays the same... Typical example is losing fat but gaining muscle, you could also be eating slightly more than you were before without realising? (increased exercise usually leads to a bigger appetite, or it does in my case anyway!)

Anyways, perservere and results will come your way

It's brilliant that you get out there and do it
I'm new to this game too, and I found it difficult the first few times, but I can promise you this it WILL get easier. Keep at it.
