Hi Tor and hi all like you I am new on the forum and almost new as runner (I started only in January 2008) my first reason to start run was loose weight, after a couple of weeks running on the street and sometime on the treadmill my passion for this sport start to grow and grow every day more and now after almost 5 months i can't live without, so for now I am going out 4 times a week for a total of more or less 43 km.

My weight when i start was more or less 231 pounds (105 kg) now my weight is more or less 213 pounds (97 kg) my goal for 2008 is try to arrive at 190 pounds and trust me is really hard run with so much weight on. My first weeks running were a tragedy, after few minutes i was completly gone, pain everywhere and all negative thoughts were in my mind but my desire to succeed was stronger then the pain, so today I am happy for all improvemnets i did, i can run 9 miles without so much problem and I can cover 10K almost in one our (I am working on it).

In few words what i want say is that with sacrifice everything is possible for everyone, there isn't nothing that we are not able to do on this earth, just put always passion and all good results with time will arrive. My advice is just start slow don't do more then your body is able to do because first could be dangerous and second is useless.

I think run is one of few sports where you can see improvements day after day, if today you can run 5 minutes only, you will see that tomorrow you are able to run 6 minutes and so on...often the limit is in our mind not in our body!

I hope my words make sense for you and for all people wants start this wonderful experience......

Sorry for my English I know is bad (I am Italian) but what is important at the is is the feeling!!!

Hello Tor,
well done for finishing the 10k and not stopping. I always find that it seems longer than 6.2 miles during a race compared to training runs. Good luck with your half marathon training too . Keep us posted

You put your point(s) across very well, aerun.
Don't think there'd be many runners on here could've done it in Italian!
Keep on enjoying your running. Name: BigThumbUp.gif
