OK, this might be a stupid question but What does attached/unattached mean when applying for a race, thanks in advance.

It is asking whether you are a club member Prec. If you're club is affiliated you'll usually get a discount on race entry.

indeedy... I believe it's something to do with race insurance? Members of registered running clubs will already have insurance through their club membership, and the additional fee for unattached runners is supposedly to cover the cost of insurance.
