We all did C25K to go from 0-5k and then followed on with B210K to do the process of 5-10k. So if you aren't running 5k yet, check out the C25K thread in this forum

Seems quite a few people here have suffered lost info on their phone apps. That's gotta suck, I for one am obsessed with tracking every run and would go mental if my Garmin lost a run.
I bought a book about half marathon training this weekend so that's what I am thinking about after this plan finishes. I have my 5k offload race this Sunday, and I booked myself in for Studland Stampede in October which is a 12k trail race. I got my race number through yesterday, oo it seems so strange to have a race number to pin to my shirt!

I got my race pack though the post too, I need to get myself to the shop and buy a new running top/singlet. really looking forward to it though
I finally got to do my practice run on the race course today, a couple of nasty bumps on it, but almost completely flat. I managed to do it in 59'45 and I know that is pretty accurate as the course has markers for each kilometre and the race finish. Good luck on the HM training Andy, I haven't 100% decided what I'm going to do yet, I'm leaning towards cycling, but HM is an option, so I may follow in your steps

Did the Studland 5k today, my first proper race day and it as fab. The off road route over the national trust scrubland took us on trails with glorious views. The first 1.5k was all up hill and the last 1k was muddy. We had to run through a fairly wide stream and after that I lost my shoe in a boggy bit, I said some rude words rather loudly and lost a few seconds replacing it!
At the finish we got medals and a goodie bag, and a massive contented feeling that I've been in a proper run. Ok so parkrun is proper but this one had a goodie bag! And it wasn't quite 5k but it was still a blast!

Hey thanks! Yes I am booked onto this one in October
Studland Stampede
It's a 12k off road. There is a 5 mile road race in September in town but I doubt I will get round to registering, you have to send a cheque and a stamped addressed envelope and I'm just not that organised. If I can't enter and pay online the chances of me doing it are slim!
How are you getting on? Is your app behaving itself now?

Congrats on the race, it looks like there is some fantastic scenery where you live How does the trail running compare to road running? I'm guessing it's a lot harder, but like I said before I'm OCD about my shoes, so I've never ran off road. Has B210K take a side seat for the time being or have you been doing a mix of everything?

Thanks Richard! Yeah I am lucky to live near such a broad range of great places to run. The trail running is tougher than in the park but it's not been beyond my ability. Uneven ground and loose scree on downhills have you on the verge of an accident! Loose sand is hard work too. I ran 3 minutes slower than my parkrun today. I used my inov-8 flyroc shoes today and they did grand. They needed a darn good scrub in the sink afterwards though! Lots of people ran in trainers and regretted it. I would def recommend getting out on the trails, it's brilliant.
I did b210k wk5r2 on Thursday and will get back to r3 tomorrow. With my 5k runs and funny shifts at work I had been doing 2 of the b210k runs per week. However I left my job this week, start a new one on Sept 3rd which is better money and gives me spare hours every day to run. No more 12 hour shifts yay!

I did 10k as a LSR yesterday and it felt pretty easy, dropping the pace 40 seconds or so per km made things 10 times easier. I've decided to move on to a proper schedule and try to attack my PBs after race day on sunday. It's going to be 1x15k LSR(well 11k next week, but building up 1k a week until 15), 1x10k tempo run and 1x5k park run, where I am either going to alternate between tempo and fartleks. Overall still 30k a week, just arranged slightly differently

Sounds good Richad, building up your LSR a km per week sound ideal. Funny thing is thats what I was considering doing to get to HM.
Started week 6 today and did my first non-stop 10k which felt good. I have started extending my route rather than doing laps around the boating lake as I am getting bored with that. it's quite a run when you stretch out out rather than doing loops haha!

I recently came to the same conclusion as well after doing the practice run, going around and seeing everything once is so much more interesting than seeing it 1 million times, especially at 10k (ok slight exaggeration ) The thinking with the LSR is that doing 10k has improved my 5k times, so I'm hoping the same will apply for doing 15k on my 10 times, plus it's a good base to do a half marathon from.
Congrats on the 10k btw, what time did you do?

Thanks! It took me 61.44 to cover it, I decided I was doing the 10k no matter how long it took, rather than running to time. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/216322178

That's still a very respectable time I've knocked a few minutes off my best since my first run, so I'm sure you'll be comfortably under 60 minutes soon.
