I'm doing my first 10k today just for experience and i was wondering if anybody had any useful tips that would be helpful.
It will be the longest race i have ever done.:eek:

I know its cliché, but don't go off too fast is my best advice. Just go at slightly below your race pace at first then try to get a bit faster after 5 minute intervals.

Thanks for the advice Nick. I knew i should go slower to start with, so i think that help when some people over took me, and it was great to be overtaking them back and others nearer the end.
I did it in 44:55, i'm not sure what my 5k split was as the course wasnt well marked.

I really enjoyed it. Especially winning 1st in my age group. Although i wasnt able to stay for the presentation! Do they send the prize in the post. Because it said on the website, that i was a prize winner???
