Managed to cut both my feet on a shard of glass last night. The right one in the sole and it went a bit deep.

Progressively faster but never forcing. 8th km in 4.01 which in those conditions, and considering the fact that I felt really comfortable, was very good.

+14ºC, very, very humid (a thunderstorm ensued).

Knee - not worse but not improving either.

How I Felt OK Weather Humid
Type Of Session Running - Intervals Route
Surface Cross Country Duration 41m 00s
Distance 9 KM (Approx)
9km/5.59mi

+14ºC, very humid, rained in the last few minutes.
Very muddy with some puddles. Slippery.

Session: within continuous running do 2x2k with 400m easy in the middle (amounted to 2.03).
Goal: to run the fast sections under 7.30 as this would probably be the equivalent of 7.15 on the track.

Warm up: 15.30 cd: approx. 9.00

Times: 7.26,6 (3.46,4 + 3.40,2) and 7.15,5 (3.42,6 + 3.33,0)

Very happy with the outcome as the first one felt almost easy and I ran much faster than expected in the second. Really slippery in places.

Legs felt heavy and the knee got worse as the run progressed.
Bought some anti inflamatory cream. The last one caused a bad allergic reaction but this is one I have used before.
This "knee thing" made me limp towards the end... I hope the cream will work.

Felt really good for the first 16k/10mi but then got very quickly tired.
After the run I have felt stracnge as well... No idea why...

Focused on cadence and form. Knee complaining a bit. Had the company of a cyclist from 11km to 14km and it felt really good

Type Of Session Running - Regular Run Route
Surface Cross Country Duration 53m 00s
Distance 11 KM (Approx)
11km/6.84mi

+14ºC, some wind, cloudy.

The goal for this session was to (within continuous running) do 4x1km sub 3:40 - rest being 2:00 easy running.

After the planned warm up I sped up and ran a very, very comfortable 3:38 first km. I was already thinking of a faster second one but 20secs into the rest section I felt the outside of my right calves cramp. After a few seconds I stopped, gently stretched and massaged it but when I resumed running I still felt "something" there...
I was quite disappointed to drop the plan but I did it...
Took it easy from then on...

How I Felt Good Weather Humid
Type Of Session Running - Long Run Route
Surface Mixed Duration 1h 27m 00s
Distance 20 KM (Approx)
20km/12.43mi

+21ºC, the Sun still showed itself for a while but then it got cloudier. Very humid. Paths in the park with little puddles in places but generally very good and soft.

I had thought about running it slowly as this week has been pretty intense.
I started at a very easy pace. Reached the park at 2.25mi and decided to check my time on the first 2km of each lap.
When I saw 8.45 for the first I was happy as it felt so easy.
With 8.32 for the second I was thinking that despite feeling great I might be overdoing it...
Decided to maintain the pace and it worked as I still felt very good with 8.30 in the third lap.
Confident that I wouldn't blow up now I accelerated just a bit and did the fourth in 8.18.
All the time feeling good.
A climb with about 2mi to go took a bit out of me and the legs felt heavy but onec back on the flat I felt strong again.

All in all, a great session and a great week

Training Session Saturday 1st May 2010, 11:44
How I Felt OK Weather Humid
Type Of Session Running - Hill Work Route
Surface Road Duration 39m 00s
Distance 8 KM (Approx)
8km/4.97mi

+12ºC, some wind.

warm up: 14mins; coold down: 12mins
rest: running slowly back down the hill.

Session goal: (see 18.04.2010) as my legs were far from fresh I though about starting at 24.+ and then getting down to 23.+ and a couple of faster ones in the end.
After the first one I realised the goal was too gentle and just tried to keep the pace for the first 7 or 8 and then improve.

Times:

23.2, 23.7, 23.7, 23.0, 23.0, 23.4, 23.3, 22.9, 22.8, 22.9, 22.5, 22.4, 22.3, 21.5, 20.0

Very happy with times. Even better because the during the first 10m of each rep I was hindered by new leaves from the bushes lining the path.
