Some wind. Legs still a bit heavy. Very hilly from 10km to 17km.
Aiming for sub 1:40 half so the goal was to maintain the pace around 4:45/km and then accelerate in the last four - 4:27.8, 4:19.3, 4:11.6, 4:06.1 - to try and improve my best Half-Marathon time (in training) of the year. I wasn't sure about it but thought it was something around 1:38:25. I've just checked (14th of May), it was actually 1:38:22 and today I ran 1:38:16. 
Very tired towards the end.

Planned to do hills but in order not to force the right hip-flexors decided to do a 5km tempo run.
I really wanted a YB today! 
18:54.6 was the time to beat. that meant keeping a 3:47/km pace and then running a faster last few metres.
I chose the course well. All tarmac but for the last 750m (it made a difference), first and last kms with a little hill and the rest mostly flat(ish).
I put the metronome to work and:
3:46.1, 3:47.8, 3:45.7, 3:45.7, 3:30.0 - I was VERY happy with the 18:35.2 especially when considering that for the first 3.5km I was afraid of going faster and blowing up - I must sort this...

Fast-session day but feeling very unsure. Thought about a Tempo Run but still feeling a bit weak... Then, during the 9th km, felt a bit better and picked up the pace. With the 10th km coming to the end I told myself that if it would be under 4:10 I would go for a tempo run and try and get a sub 20:00.
4:13... I went for it!

With the fourth being 90% uphill and the fifth mostly into a headwind I was very happy with a 19:42.5

ELK DAY!!!!!! 
Just like the first time I saw an elk, back in 2007 in Norway, it was warm (around 12ºC, I guess), low clouds and rain. Just before leaving home I wrote to a friend saying that I have been looking for an elk all this time! And put on a music that made me focus on nature, not on all the worries that currently surround me.
I mention this because when I saw a wolf while running I had just been listening to a song about a wolf before leaving home... "coincidences"...
17:55 on the clock, round the bend, looking left - a huge beast standing there, 100m away, staring at me!
I couldn't believe it! A horse? a stag? So big? And then it turned its head and I saw the long nose... An elk! A biiig male!!!!
I still had 20km to go , in the rain, cold wind (first run with gloves in a few weeks) but that kept my mind busy for the rest of it!
What a feeling, to come across what they call here "The King of the Forest"!
As for the run - I felt quite good but kept it easy. Then I decided to run from 16km to 21.1 (Half-Marathon reference) hard - though not too hard and see if I could go under 1:40.
4:05.7, 4:08.0, 4:09.2, 3:57.7, 3:49.1 got me a 1:38.22 Half-Marathon after a slow start, with 16km-21km in 20:09.7 (definitely sub 20:00 with all the hills, rain and wind).

Cloudy, warm, windy on the open road.
Most of the run in the forest - explored two little paths, hence the not so fast overall pace, and a new forest road.
It has been raining for a day and a half so when the Sun occasionally shone the whole forest and lake shone.
Around 55:00 I had to change direction in mid-air! I was just about to step on a snake!!!! 
I stopped and went back. It was playing dead but it started moving when I touched it (it wasn't a poisonous one ) It then moved away (probably a good idea not to lie on the road). So beautiful 
Went for one faster km from 13.5km to 14.5km - undulating 3:44 without working hard

Rain, rain... short break! More rain 
Quads a bit tired from the last two days but I really wanted to do something fast(er) today.
Decided to do 3km fast and then 10x100m+.
Session: 3km + 10 x +-115m
3km: aiming for sub 11:00 but trying to get as close as possible to 10:30. Ha The first km was mostly downhill, second mostly up and the third undulating. Tough chance 
Happy with the result: 10:52.3 - 3:31.7, 3:48.9, 3:31.8
recovery: stopped for a couple of minutes and then ran 2km+. Stopped some 10 minutes and went for 10 x +- 115m (afterwards 12:04 cool-down). Flat first half and then the slightest of uphills. Took times for reference but focused mostly on form.

After two attempts to find the right track to the southern end of the lake I finally did it and how magical it was... It was getting dark fast and the Moon was already high behind me.
I decided to take a chance and run as far as needed to make it to the lake.
Suddenly, coming over the top of a little hill, the space between the trees a few hundred metres ahead was on fire!
It was the reflection of the sunset on the still surface of the lake.
Pure magic 
I had planned to pick up the pace on the way back but the "pit stop" I was trying to avoid was really needed around 6km...
Felt quite weak towards the end of the run.
