Gutted with time, found course hard as very uneven and mixed terrain, longest run since Edinburgh Marathon so pleased that I "took part" - but I walked on 5/6 occasions and that really annoys me.
Went out far too fast and breathing was completely knocked out of sync (ran first half mile at 7:32/mi pace!! which is way faster than I have ever run a mile in), this took a while for me to recover from to be honest.
Course itself was pretty hard and poor in a lot of ways in my opinion. There were a number of steep inclines which is fair enough but the terrain I found very hard and dangerous in place. Lots of potholes as race is run in country estate over farm tracks, fields and along gravel tracks. Felt close to turning ankles a number of times - especially when running across the field.
Preparation was awful, very tired this morning as only got 3 hours sleep on Friday night, didn't eat well Friday or Saturday - so all in all it was worst prep and worst race imagineable!! You live and you learn I suppose!
4 weeks until next 10k (Strathclyde Park) which started me running 1 year ago so got work to do to beat 1hr 12 secs from last year.
