How I Felt OK Weather Fair
Type Of Session Running - Long Run Route GT2130 Red (1)
Surface Road Duration 2h 45m 34s
Distance 22.58 Miles
Felt quite good throughout, knees struggling in the latter stages, legs very tired and achey once I'd finished. Feeling comfortable with the idea of running 26.2mi now - just need to keep going with the long runs to allow me to pick up the pace on race day!

7:20/mi, 143bpm

First half - ~1:24:00
Second half - ~1:21:30

Happy with that pacing

Very happy with the session since I was aching in the morning and planned to drop the speedwork and just go for an easy run - turns out I loosened up and ran a lot better than I did on this session just a fortnight ago!

How I Felt OK Weather Warm
Type Of Session Running - Long Run Route GT2130 Red (1)
Surface Road Duration 2h 26m 32s
Distance 20.17 Miles
Longest run to date - legs felt very tired in the latter stages though having run ~40miles in the 6 days prior to this, it was to be expected really. Some pretty big hills thrown in as well which I won't have to worry about in Edinburgh.

For some unknown reason I really suffered with chafing between the legs today, no idea why - I used plenty of vaseline (the same as normal) but was suffering from about 8 miles in. Thankfully I was able to cope with it until the end as it didn;t get much worse than a mild stinging (until I got into teh shower of course - OWWWWW!!!!)

Stats: 7:15/mi, 140bpm.

How I Felt Heavy Legged Weather Cold
Type Of Session Running - Intervals Route GT2130 Red (2 -Grey)
Surface Road Duration 1h 03m 45s
Distance 9.58 Miles
6x1mi @ 10k pace with 0.25mi recovery.

1mi - 5:46/mi, 159bpm
1.01mi - 5:45/mi, 164bpm
1mi - 5:52/mi, 162bpm
1.01mi - 5:45/mi, 164bpm
1.01mi - 5:53/mi, 164bpm
1.28mi - 5:52/mi, 166bpm

With such a high mileage week I'm surprised I managed this session, so quite happy I managed to get round, despite being slower than 10k pace (which I blame on my tired legs, which aren't looking forward to Sunday's 20miler!)

How I Felt Terrible Weather Fair
Type Of Session Running - Tempo Run Route GT2130 Red (1)
Surface Road Duration 1h 27m 26s
Distance 13.58 Miles
0.82mi Warm Up
12.75mi @ 6:22/mi, 161bpm.

Took me a while to get going on this one - through the warmup my legs felt unresponsive and heavy. I tried to push on as the main section of the workout started but the legs weren't playing ball and I was struggling to get anywhere near target pace. To be honest the matter of completing 11/12 miles wasn't really an issue anymore, it was whether I'd make it beyond 3/4 miles!

Anyway, after an argument with myself in my head, I decided this had to be done and that it was probably nothing like as bad as what I'll be experiencing in the latter stages of the marathon so I need to fight through it and battle on.

I started to manage goal pace, though the Garmin was being incredibly temperamental, once moment it was showing 6:09/mi, the next 6:36/mi even though my pace felt identical! Thank gawd I'd set it for average pace as well!

The legs were tired all the way round. though they were starting to ease up a bit when my stomach started playing up, rumbles a groans, it was becoming a little uncomfortable but I was in no mood to ruin my run after trying so hard to make goal pace. the last 2 miles were really quite uncomfortable but eventually I reached the finish and felt a lot better for it. I had my recovery drink, stretched for a few mins, then jumped in the car to go home.

Upon getting home the stomach pains came back, really quite badly. I popped to the loo for a good 5-10mins in quite a bit of discomfort, but then all the pain subsided, thank gawd! Dinner was ready! I munched my dinner down, feeling absolutely fine, then 10mins later all hell broke loose... memories of food poisoning on my holiday in egypt came back, not nice at all After a couple of hours of not really being able to do anything I jackd it in for the net and went to bed... after another 30mins of discomfort I'd managed to convince myself that work in the morning (this morning) would be a bad idea and that I'd need a day off. I've now woken up this morning feeling perfectly fine... hows about that eh? my evening ruined, but fixed just in time for work... perfect!

Ah well, rest day today - I think the legs will be very appreciative!
