How I Felt Heavy Legged Weather Raining
Type Of Session Running - Easy Run Route Roath Park Lake
Surface Road Duration 25m 00s
Distance 3 Miles (Approx)
Woke up heavy legged as expected. Ran about 3 miles to loosen up a bit, but I think I've caught my housemate's cold and everything seems about twice as hard as it should be. Heart rate still averaged 172bpm. Might rest tomorrow and see how I feel in general. Blah.

Training Session Thursday 4th January 2007, 10:00
How I Felt Good Weather Cold
Type Of Session Running - Intervals Route
Surface Road Duration 52m 00s
Distance 7 Miles (Approx)
I'm on a mission to get to a good level of fitness. Today was my first serious training session of this year and what I intended to run was 3 minutes working at around 150bpm and 1 minute at around 180bpm (I was lucky enough to get a polar watch for xmas, I'd never really given them much thought but am well impressed). What actually happened was, my sprints peaked at about 187bpm - my watch beeping at me angrily - and my recovery periods didn't bring me very far back inside the target zone. Still, I felt great for the whole thing afterwards.

I think I should start varying my circuits a bit more though. I like by a lake, which is a favourite with lots of runners, but I went round it 4 times today and it does get repetitive! Nevertheless, I'm pleased with my start to the year and hope to continue as I've begun. I think I'll have a light run tomorrow and go down to the local track at the weekend, see how my middle distance times are doing. I have no idea how to form a coherent training regime at all heh Ah well!
