How I Felt Bad Weather Raining
Type Of Session Running - Regular Run Route Old Brunel Railway
Surface Trail Duration 30m 00s
Distance 4 Miles (Approx)
It's seriously cold and miserable out there! I started off with a bit of a spring in my step and then started flagging about three quarters of the way through - that'll teach me not to pace myself. I've also got a horrible cold and had 5 pints at the weekend - hardly helps :-)

No more drinking after xmas!

How I Felt OK Weather Freezing
Type Of Session Running - Hill Work Route Targate Road Circuit
Surface Road Duration 40m 00s
Distance 5.07 Miles
A horribly hilly circuit that I've never run before. It's a very good workout, though, and I feel OK. My calves are pretty tight but that might have as much to do with the weather as it does with the hills. Roll on Silverstone half marathon in March, I'll be ready for you.

How I Felt OK Weather Cold
Type Of Session Running - Easy Run Route Old Brunel Railway
Surface Trail Duration 35m 00s
Distance 4 Miles
OK, so I actually felt like going for a run after coming home early from work - always a bonus. Today I ran the same route but paced myself well. I think yesterday my brain was a little more eager than my legs. I felt OK, if a little heavy-legged.

Maybe I'll feel like running again this week, but I am working 37 hours over the next 3 days so perhaps not. This Sunday is looking most likely, an early morning one. As long as I'm realistic, this shouldn't hurt too much :-)

How I Felt Terrible Weather Windy
Type Of Session Running - Regular Run Route Old Brunel Railway

Deary me,

I really shouldn't have left it this long! I'm determined to get back on the road to fitness, having been fit enough to run the Great South Run in 74 minutes this time last year. That was 10 miles long, and now I can't run less than half that without stopping and gasping for breath. I don't smoke, I just eat too much crap and have far too sedentary a lifestyle right now. All that is about to change.

Although my life is a little chaotic right now - no 'real' job and nowhere to live - I've vowed, wherever I may be, to run regularly. So, I suppose the first thing to do is to decide just how often that should be before I do anything like enter an upcoming event.

I think 2 times a week should ease me back into things. Today was a struggle - muscles aching right from my calves to my intercostals - but I always remember the first run of a regime to be particularly grim. Once I feel I can run a few miles on the trot without hallucinating, I'll think about upping distances and times, get the old heart rate monitor back out of its case and train with some real purpose. For now, I'm going to have a shower and hope I can still move when I wake up tomorrow morning...
