Nice leisurely 70 lengths in the pool, breastroke. Didn't make mistake of kicking too hard so didn't strain groin!

Just cycling today - got fed up with just cycling for the sake of it, so decided to do 5 miles measured on the readout and time it, to see if I can at least go for an exercise bike PB while I'm not running - did 5 miles in 57m 11s woot woot, I can run it faster have no idea how exercise bike compares to real cycling, did have it on middle resistance so might have been going uphill!

45 minutes on bike, with some breaks for weights and situps - turned bike resistance up high for last 15 minute stint. No twinge from hip biking, though it did twinge walking a bit later 
Felt shattered after the bike work today, but good - almost as if I'd been out and run a tempo 5k.

Half an hour on exercise bike due to damaged hip - broke into a sweat and heart got going with some furious pedalling at end, but doesn't do much to get me breathing hard 
Also did some weights and situps so 40 mins total - nothing like running but will have to do now as it's a problem walking never mind running

My enthusiasm got the better of me today, wasn't feeling in the mood for a 10 miler but watched the Great North Run on tv and was suddenly raring to go - managed my 10 miles but my hip was hurting after 8 and I took a wrong turn (missed the right path back into Haughton Dale) and ended up traversing some crumbling path over a precipice, by the time I had slogged back up a massive tree root infested hill and found my way again I was struggling, and by the end I could barely lift one leg after another - the mile walk home was an ordeal with my hip flaring up. I mainly ran on canal path today and the underfoot conditions were atrocious after the rain - slipping and sliding over totally uneven ground for 10 miles was obviously not doing my hip much good 
Funnily enough, it's the hip on the other side to the one which usually twinges after a few days OFF running

Not slept all week and have had some kind of stomach bug. Was feeling really tired this morning and had restless legs again as well as still feeling a bit queasy.
Wanted to get out to keep the legs turning over, so planned a 5k jog. It was freezing, so I didn't hang around too much but set off a bit quickly to get warm. Did the first k in 4:50 then just decided to keep it going. Fourth k really hurt as the split shows, slowed to 5 mins per k after doing my fastest k split to date of 4:34. Desperation to get under 24 minutes kept the legs going near the end but staggered over 5k as Garmin clocked the last metre and 1 tenth of a second over 24 minutes 
Still, a PB despite feeling totally rubbish when I walked out the door
