Wore backpack for first time since L2B but will need a bigger one for JCC with all the requirements the organisers have demanded.

Went out just to see what I could do as lacked motivation all day. In the end I did a fair distance at a steady pace. Tweaked left groin which is a bit of a worry with JCC just 11 days away.

Felt a bit lethargic at the start even though I had, strange for me, a banana before running. Only had one coffee though so maybe that was the reason for my lethargy!!

Soon realised I had put too much on as I began to sweat up uncomfortably within a couple of miles. Note to self...must remember winter is over....

Most of the run was done at a steady pace. Just one or two sections...through the dunes for example... where the pace dropped. Good JCC practise that!

Once I got to 20m I dropped pace to effectively do a cool down run...and at the shop I treated myself to an ice cream!

A bit wary before I left the house..worried a bit about my back but I needn't have!

Planned to do 18 but felt good and with the sun out it was easy to do the extra 2m.

Did some short incline reps along the sea front and a little section of sand running.

From the moment I stepped out to run I knew this was going to be a bad one. My lower back, left side, was sore. Don't know why. Every step on my left side was painful and when at one point I rubbed my back I wish I hadn't.

I thought I might run through the soreness and that the pain would ease as I loosened up but that didn't work.

As a result ..and with it being cold and windy too..i eventually abandoned my planned 15m run. Will now see how my back feels during the rest of the day...may do another short run later to test it.

Can't all be good runs I guess. Just hope this back pain is temporary.
