Redcar Half Marathon - To Save A Life...

Using this thread as a continuation of my post in the 'Newbie' forum...Here:
Utter Foolishness...(Noob)...

For those who read my story in the 'Intros' section you may already be aware, but for those who didn't here's a re-cap:

At the start of this year a hockey colleague of mine's Father was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumour. (Glioblastoma Grade IV). That stunned us all as he's a fit and active 40yr old who looks after himself well and is rarely ill. He’s currently receiving a mixture of radiotherapy and chemotherapy at James Cook University Hospital however the Oncology team are uncertain of how effective this treatment will be. Also due to where the tumour is situated he wont be able to receive any more 'conventional radiotherapy'. The only alternative option he has been given is to use a new radiotherapy treatment known as 'Cyber Knife' treatment which is more accurate. The problem being that this is not available on the NHS. Therefore, he has asked as many people as are willing to take part in the RHM to help raise £22,000 so that his Dad can undergo further treatment. Otherwise...well...you know...

We'd all really appreciate if you could take a look at the following link and, if at all possible, contribute, donate or pledge.

Many Thanks!

Maybe you are a lot fitter than you thought you were originally, but I'm a bit concerned you are increasing your mileage so quickly. It would be a shame if you got injured and it put you back, so take it easy.

Thanks all.
Yeah, I am going to take it easy for the next week or so. Think I was pushing myself so hard to get a bit of confidence and to find out just how far I was able to go. Am well chuffed with the results though so foot off the gas a little, stop worrying so much about the distance and start working on pace over a few shorter distances I think. Seems strange but I dont seem to struggle at all over the last few miles which is what I expected. Instead its the first two miles that seem to be the hardest for me.

Ignore the Bot - it's actually part of one of your earlier comments.

Just thought I'd keep you all in the picture...After my 8 mile jaunt I decided that I'd have a few days off, as promised, so no running has gone on this week. I have however turned my attention to the fundraising side of things and I have just crossed the £1,000 mark!

Managed 10 miles at the weekend. Well happy! Took me 1hr 45 though which is slow, approx 10 minute miles but that run wasn't about pace - Was more about proving to myself that I ccould do the distance so I can work on pace later. Pretty chuffed even though I am in agony now. HaHa
