I lock the front door, put my keys under my wheelie bin, and run.

Yesterday though when I got back from run, one of family had got home before me, and I was lookin for my keys this morning, dozy bugger I am, I always forget I've hidden them

If that were me, I'd be too scared that someone had seen me stash the keys and were waiting to let themselves in when I'd got round the corner.
Maybe your location "up North" means the Highlands of Scotland with no-one else around for miles and miles?
... Or maybe you have large and hungry dogs in the house?

Here's a good 'un! When I go to races I'm usually on my own, once I took the rather large bunch of keys with me in the key pocket of my lycra shorts(don't ask!), but this was uncomfortable, so the next time, as I have a car with central locking, I took the fob(which is small and light) off the keys and locked the bunch in the car!

Hey presto! You only have to carry a lighweight fob with you!

It's amazing how people are content to carry bottles and bottles of water when they run; but then find a couple of keys such hard work!

I just take my front door key off my key ring (I keep meaning to get a spare cut so I don't have to keep taking it on and off!) and put it either in a pocket if I'm wearing something that has one (safety-pinned in if no zip) or put it in a wrist band I bought that has a zip pocket.

I'll always just take the one key, whether it be a house key or car key (with house keys in the car), then I'll either put it in the zip up pocket in the back of teh shorts, or thread my shoe laces through the key before tieing them... As ped says though, if you can carry a bottle of water, why not keys? Keys don't slosh around either so much easier to carry

all my running stuff have pockets and just take the necessary 2 keys.

I have done a run before now with my pocket unzipped and went into a right old sweat over it, didn't lose them though

That's just made me think, was out running last summer when I realised I was without my watch. I was in the local woods at the time. I re-traced my steps and I did find it, what's the chances of that!
