Not tried any Nike gear but my brooks stuff is brill. It doesn't stop me sweating but whereas a normal Tshirt would stick to me the Brooks doesn't and it drys much quicker.

Do you know what range clothing you have bought?

They're all Nike, I'm surprised they didnt seem to make much difference. Mind you I did push myself quite hard today with hardly any walking breaks

Most of my running t-shirts are ones I got in various races... The elite moisture-absorbent ones with go-faster stripes do seem much the same as the bog-standard cotton ones...

My first 4 months running I just used normal cotton Ts, I sweat a lot, and they were drenched, heavy and unpleasant half way into every run. I was a sceptic, but as others have said the proper wicking stuff doesn't stop you sweating, but does carry it away - can't imagine not using them now.

I might give those a try but only once my current gear has worn out, I've already spent quite a bit!

I find weight the main difference... I can run in cotton T-shirts, but they get drenched and stay drenched, and I can feel it sticking to my skin. Moisture wicking clothing I find is much lighter, doesn't stick to the skin and is generally much more comfortable.

If you can get away with wearing normal clothes then there's no problem with that at all!

I have some patagonia trail9s I think they're called - they're great with built in pants too, wouldn7t race in anything else! I'm in humid japan at the moment and just standing in your house makes sweat start to drip!

ChrisCrossCountry...maybe you could put some plasters on your man nipples ... although you may get an unwanted waxing when you take them off

Should the moisure wicking tops be as loose as a normal T or should it be a bit tighter?

I've always assumed to fit them the same - just whatever is comfiest! Unless of course you're thinking of compression clothing, then you need the ones that look like they're meant for 5 year olds

lol, I don't have the body for compression clothing
I might go and look around the net at lunch time and see what I can find. Will check out the website suggested and if I can find where my local JJBs I might pop in.

All my tops have to be loose...I do have a couple of pairs of skins though ...great for keeping leg muscles warm in the winter.

Never thought about the winter! I think I might stick with shorts to start with and see how I get on. Might get myself some longsleeve running tops though.
