Yeah i enjoy running at night as there are many advantages of running at night The biggest advantage definitely would be temperature. I ran from 10:30 to 11:10 pm and the temperature at the time ranged between 67-73 degrees Farenheit. At high noon that temperature was in the high 80's and 90's. So the temperature difference is about 20 degrees and that is vital. With a night run you are less likely to get dehydrated or overheated where during the day you may be at high risk to develop these problems. Another major advantage is traffic. Late at night most people have settled in at home and the traffic on the streets isn't too bad at all.

There`s something quite adictive about following the dancing beam from a head torch, only used mine about 8 or 9 times but I wouldn`t be without one now..

I'm going to have to do more night running this winter due to changes in work circumstances. I'm starting to look into head torches and could do with recommendations if anyone has any. As I will be running off road over fields but for no more than 80 minutes, I need something really bright to see my way but does not have to last for hours.

General consensus amongst fell runners seems to be the HOPE LED 1 is the 'dogs bollocks' - leaves the XP in the shade so to speak

Others well respected are as follows (links provided are NOT necessarily the cheapest source)

Mind you some fell runners seem to have bottomless pockets when it comes to buying gear, provided it does the job!

Did my training for the recent vlm at night. Used to park my cab up at the tate modern at 3am after work and run along the thames footpaths.Made it down as far as putney bridge and back. Nice having the place to yourself.
