I seen the link for this on FB and was going to ask in here, well a thread already on it!
Quite tempted to try this, Scotland one is in August which should give me lots of time to train for it, looks quite fun apart from the obvious pain I would be in during and after it!

It's 80 quid. It's not that bad. To run the VLM you generally have to raise a lot of money (1500 plus) which some probably comes out of people's own pockets. You can make it as competitive as you want too. It's a challenge to complete. I imagine the satisfaction will be greater than road running.

It's a ridiculous price, you can't compare it's entry fee with raising money for charity to do London, the entry fee for the marathon is about £35

i guess it depends on what you like, it's also got a lot more organisation than a normal marathon, because of the obstacles and safety marshals have to be on the ball! it's something i'm willing to pay the price for because i know i'll onlly do it once a year maybe, if i plan it early enough you're in for 50 quid

I'm only planning on doing it once... unless I get bumped on the head and decide its a good idea to do it again. Its not just about the running its the mental and physical aspect and team work!

If you'd run at Dunalistair or Craig a' Barns this weekend you'd have found it much harder than any Tough Mudder and at a much cheaper price!

I'm signed up for the one in Scotland, I don't think they've done any in UK before this year so I reckon it's just show up and see what happens. I've got mixed feelings of excitement and OMG what am I doing! It's all about helping each other this one. Just do it MD!

they did some last year i think, bear grylls did one, last year i think...
this seems like the toughest adventure run out there, it's not about comptetiveness - it's about helping each other and completing a difficult challenge, if you don't try it, you can't compare it to anything else, and personally to me, it's worth the price, because it's not serious, it uses body strength as well as cardio, i'd sooner do that test then just running a marathon, because this tests every part of physcial fitness, not just your lungs or distance. 85 quid for a fun day out with a party after, doing crazy obstacles seems much more fun than running 26 miles

One thing is guaranteed, it will be more fun than a marathon (because it's easier)
