Daren't tell you!!! Actually, did rather better than I expected. Got off to a flyer and, according to my gun time, crossed the line in 45.32. Strangely, I felt to be struggling and was beginning to think the 400m intervals on the track three days previously might have been a mistake. But all ended well. I think I finished 222nd from the 1800 + entries.
I suspect I may have won the MV70 category but unfortunately couldn't stay for the prize-giving because we'd a table for two booked in the Yorkshire Dales to celebrate my 75th!
As my partner crossed the line, in about 55.56, they announced her as the LV60 winner, but this still has to be confirmed. If true, then we'd a pretty good day between us! We were both very impressed with the race organisation - but why are the T-shirts always LARGE? There should be a space on the entry form to state whether we're S, M, or L. so as to order shirts accordingly.
Cheers!

....and well done to you too on your first venture into racing. Now that you've established a base, things will get better and better. Just you see!
We didn't actually stay in King's Lynn. We camped at Burnham Deepdale about 25 miles away.
Being local, could you do us a favour? If the race results appear in your local paper could you PM me 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the MV70 and LV60 categories? I can't really believe my partner or I could actually have WON our respective categories in a race of such magnitude, but we MIGHT have got into the placings.
Thanks.

Well done to you all.
Sounds as if it is a good race to run whether it`s your first time with a number on your chest or your a veteran with many races behind you.

Foxy let us know if you and your good lady were the winners of your group?

well done everybody!
my next race is going to be a 10K which I've never done before, so I'm always interested in following these threads and, of course, I love to read when people come back and tell us all how they did

The overall results have just come up on the race website and it seems the trip to Norfolk proved worthwhile for us. My time of 45.32 was 1min 22secs ahead of the 2nd MV70 runner, a chap from Great Yarmouth Road Runners. However, Great Yarmouth got their own back on our Longwood club by beating my partner into 2nd place in the LV60 race.
I'd a word with the race director immediately after the race, explaining why we couldn't stay for the prize-giving, and he said he'd post any prizes on to us IF WE'D WON. But another of the organisers said most of the prizes were glass-ware, so goodness knows how they'll fare in the post. Watch this space!
Cheers!

Thanks GoSlow - and I'm sure you'll catch up to me with a bit more experience. I was looking for you among the race photos (which are pretty appalling really) on the GEAR website and wondered if you are one of the group of four on image number 2779? The one of me in image number 2146 is totally unrecognisable!
Cheers!

There is one pic of me looking v.deranged coming thru the south gates - think it was no.920. But see new avatar for better pic...

Great avatar, but puts me to shame. Don't think you'd ever find a picture of me running and looking so happy, more like stony concentration, though I've been known to smile on the winner's rostrum! I'll stick to my fox.
Cheers!

I think the fact that I'm smiling in all the photos taken by family, friends, my boss etc at points all round the course suggests that I probably could have run it a bit harder. ...but I just wanted to enjoy the experience and make sure I got round.
Maybe next year's photos will showy stony concentration coupled with a faster time, who knows?!
