It would be nice to meet up, I expect you are fitter than me though!

Lyn.
Lyn, I'm tempted, but dithering etc. I'm not sure just how undulating it is (= challenging), so would like to go drive the course before I enter. Trouble is I'm so swamped for time over the next few weeks. I'm currently in Swansea for this week and next, in Lancaster over the weekend, and then in Davos, Switserland for a week. Having just had an injury I've had to take a break from running for 2 weeks. Just re-started last Sunday for 4 miles (and was stiff afterwards). My predicted completion time for a 10K race is 1 hour 15 minutes. I've seen your completion times, so even if you are not very fit you'd still be way ahead of me.

Having sounded so dubious in the last paragraph, I still am tempted, and the opportunity to meet another Runners Forum member might be just the incentive I need.

If I do enter, I'll do it during next week. I first want to see how this injury responds to running again properly. So want to see how my injury now responds this coming Sunday.

I'm not brave enough to be more specific.

Karen,

See how you feel next week and let me know. If you decide to do it and just want some company to go round with I am quite happy to run with you. My friend I sometimes run with is about 1 hour and ten for a 10k and I am used to running with her at her speed.

If you decide not to do it perhaps we could meet up for a run one weekend. My neices are at uni. in Oxford, also a friend seems to spend rather too much time in The Nuffield Orthopedic Hospital, so I come up quite often.

Keep in touch.

Lyn.

I had a look at the map for Goring, there is a picture of a long sloping lane, looks like a long drag, plus a couple of shorter ones. I went up to Fringford and checked out the Candleford Ladies race before I entered! You must do that in October, it's a lovely race....no men!!!

Karen,
Just go for it I'm really slow - I'm doing a 10 mile in a couple of weeks. My predicted time is around 2 hrs and they start giving out prizes after 2 hrs so I'm just hoping I make it back before then but its always good fun competing and you feel a fantastic sense of achievement afterwards.

Hi Lyn,

Well, I haven't managed to find time to drive the course, but have decided to enter anyway. I must bite the bullet sometime I guess. I did 10K this morning (1 hour 12 mins), and my hip injury wasn't too bad with it, so I have no further excuses. (Aargh...gulp, what am I letting myself in for here?)

I really appreciate your offer or running with me, but please don't feel obliged. Your company would be welcome, but I'm also used to doing things on my own. So I'd be fine whichever way you choose. You could also enter the race, but run at you own pace, and I could meet you before/after.

Well, the deed is done, and I'm entered. I'm entry number 954 (I presume that will be my race number). That's quite a nice sounding number (she said, being momentarily silly and superstitious). I'll wear my Runnersforum vest.

Anyway, I'm offline for all of the this next week - can you believe it in this day and age, so please don't expect any responses from me soon

I've been on along run, got halfway and realised I've left the key in the door. It's very good for negative splits!
