Anyway, surely one of the most challenging things on the day was knowing that you had to run through South London with expensive trainers on and still be wearing them when you crossed Tower Bridge.

The first drop of alcohol in several months was well worth the wait :-)

That reminds me of last Friday night... while out looking for somewhere to eat in London we pull up at some red traffic lights in Plaistow.

I happen to mention to Rich, who was driving, about this being the place of a shooting that was in the news a short while ago. With that he presses the button that locks the car doors with a very loud CLUNK.

At which point I look out the window and 3 fairly large very dark skinned young men stare at the car...they had obviously heard the loud clunk of doors locking and could be forgiven for jumping to conclusions.

I was torn between disappearing into the seat well or opening the window and trying to explain that the locking of the doors in such a manner had nothing to do with them or the colour of their skin.

Thankfully the lights changed...

well done all of you for finishing FLM last Sunday - I was travelling all day and only managed to catch the highlights on BBC2 in the evening Anyway, you should be all proud of yourselves for getting round that course in those temperatures, injuries and all! And I have to agree with Dave that the mere fact that you all finished is the main thing and not the time you finished it in - although I really do sympathise that a nagging injury will affect your enjoyment and spoil the experience and that's a shame. I watched every runner crossing the line in awe, just imagining if I could ever really do it and trying to imagine how it must feel to take that final turn and see the finish line ahead of you. It would be the proudest moment of my life if I ever did it. You should know how good you people really are Congrats to you all!
