3:30 was always unlikey...it's a pie in the sky dream really. I'd have to knock 10mins or so off pb and with my groin problem( touchwood currently gone) I've not doen enough quicker mileage to get that time off. 3:45 now the realistic target ..he says fingers crossed!

ok, well 3.45 would be lovely but I don't think I'll have enough mileage in my legs to get anywhere near that. I'll just try and get as close to 4 hours as I can.

I ran 8 miles in 1.03 yesterday, which felt pretty good... if only I could do that 3 times, and then I could walk the last 2.2 miles and still get inside 3.30

But it don't work like that does it

Just short of 58 miles this week just gone. With 22 miles last Saturday.
slightly tweeked my left achilles though as I leapt over a railway sleeper at 18.5.
It's just a bit stiff thankfully.A good stretch, ice and gentle massage afterwards seemed to do the trick.Since I started using powerbar gels on the long runs a couple of weeks back, I seem to feel far better than before. Also started using viper bars at the same time.
Great stuff.
Bad News was that my Forerunner 305 packed up the following day before I could download my stats.
Still under guarantee by just 3 weeks and sweatshop exchanged for a new one today no problems.Great new shop at Bluewater.

With that amount of effort in training hot foot you must be hoping to smash your pb!

I am hoping to Steve. If I don't walk on and off from 20-21 miles onwards as I did in the last one then I should at least beat my P.B. Last weekend's run was a pyschological boost for me as I've never run that distance in any previous schedule before and have failed to reach that distance while still running in the last 2 two FLM's
I feel as if my preparation this time has been far better and of course I now have the extra year's worth of running in my legs.I'm following a sub 3:30 schedule as opposed to a sub 4:00 last year so time will tell.
Hopefully silverstone this weekend will give me a good idea of what is a realistic target on the big day.
Pressure?What pressure?

Best of luck with Silverstone hf.

How many more long ones are you doing? I've a 20miler this Sunday and then a 22miler 2 weeks after that. Trouble is I'm doing these long ones too slowly to hope for a 3:30 or so time. After that it's taper time!!

You never know we may just cross paths/elbows on FLM!

Managed a 23 miler yesterday in just under 2.37 so tripping along quite nicely at about 6.50 miling. Didn't take any fluids with me and just one energy gel sachet, which I managed to spill half of down my shorts and legs. It's a good look.
Legs cramped up afterwards but ok otherwise. Heavy week training with Lisbon half marathon this Sunday to look forward to, going with guy from local club.Should give me a good idea of where I'm up to fitness-wise....

like you Steve,I have a 20,22 then an 18 after this weekend.
My schedule is telling me that I should be doing my long runs at an average of 9 min miling.I have generally been in the 8:30-8:50 range for the long ones up to this point. Can't seem to maintain the 9 min pace.I know that time on your feet is important though.Do you think this will have a negative result as far as a 3:30 target goes?It just feels more comfortable at the slightly quicker pace. The speed, hill and tempo runs have gone quite well I think.

I will have to look out for the flailing elbows come the day. Will you be getting your hair cut for the event? If i see you at the start you may notice your laces tied together when you set off.

You could be right about the nickname not being suitable!!
What really bothered me was the energy gel that missed the mouth and landed on my legs, dried up. Nice and sticky for the last 7 miles...
