Inspired indeed. What time is required in a marathon before you are considered an elite and not a "j'er"

Ooooooh.
Elite should be sub 2.30. Good club runner sub 3.
Everyone else is a jogger?

Once upon a time sub 3 was what runners aspired to......not any more. Just finishing seems to be as important now.

Thankfully I wasn't a jogger when that was the case.

I'd have had no chance without a third lung.

I've only been a jogger for a few years.

Just finishing, soon becomes trying to set a new p.b. for most though doesn't it?

I'd say possibly sub 2:30 is elite for this country... though even that is soft compared to years gone by! I think the jogger/runner thing is overrated.. if you're a jogger, you're a runner

What qualifies as "elite"? Someone who takes part in international competitions? I think that, for FLM, you get to start with the Kenyans and use the flash toilets if you have run sub-2:40 in the past year.

You can run sub-3 and still maintain a regular job / life just about... At what level can you not really go much further without being a professional runner to all intents and purposes?

Not sure that this will apply to a lot of people on the forum - but I just found out that the ballot for the overseas entrants for the FLM 2009 is now open.

My name is in the hat
