Get a place through fundraising?

I would love to run in London next April and will be able to give money to a charity. Where can I see which charity would give me a starting place?
I saw many charities where I have to apply but none where you get a guaranteed place. Do you have any recommondation?

Charities will only guarantee you a place if you can commit to raising a certain amount of cash. When I enquired of Barnardos last year they said places were limited, and I would have to guarantee £1500 for a place.

That would be ok. We could give 1.500 pounds. It would be perfect to get a guaranteed place.
When I tell them that they get the 1.500 pounds straightaway which charity would guarantee me a place?

Try google, at the end of the day money can buy just about anything. You may just have to get on the phone and talk to some people.

Check out their website. If i remember correctly they will actually guarantee a place if you commit to raising a certain amount.

Good luck with it.

I enquired today about a place with Diabetes UK - I have to raise £1850 but even if you dont do it by the race they will let you keep raising the money till you reach it; it doesnt have to come out of your own pocket!

That is pretty good! Raising that amound of money is quite a lot, its what put me off trying to get a charity place for London.

I will be running for Cancer Research UK and MacMillan Support for my races next session and they both offer places either at London or Edinburgh.

O.

Kraut,

Have you tried the smaller charities

I am enquiring and once i know i got a place or not regardless or not ill be running for these.

Helen House Running - Home - providing hospice care for children and young adults

They are a hospice for Young Adult and Children.

You would have to speak to them about how it would affect you because your based in Germany etc, so therefore you missed out on the ballot i expect.

You can email or pm me for her details or email her from the site.
