The results show about 90 "dns/dnf".....including two of our club runners who I know withdrew from the race last week due to injury. This dns/dnf figure seems to representa very high % of entrants to me.
Cheers Hayley.
I'm 2nd in the club champs ....just 3 points ahead of the guy in 3rd and a mere 62 points behind the leader!
SWMBO LEADS THE LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are only doing so well because we've done the most races and all races in the champs count.
The guy leading has come first home for the club in each race so far...got it in the bag unless I can conspire to break his legs!!!!

Major flaw in that idea....he never runs past...I only ever see him at the end of the race.
Perhaps I could sabotage his car.....

I didn't fall over at all last year...just slid about a bit...hence the trail shoes this year.
I did fall over twice  though at Fram xc 2 years ago...my own fault...tried to go too quick down a wet slope.

They tend to be between 4.5m and 5.5m..Sunday's is one of the shorter events of the 6 race series.
The one a week Sunday( not a club champs race) is about 5.8m so is the longest one we'll do.

The day started in the best possible way...an extra hour in bed, grey skies but no rain!
The course was 3 laps ...totalling 4.25m....and therefore the same as last year.
After having a team photo..16 of us were there....and doing a short jog it started to rain. However someone must have said a prayer to the xc god and 5 mins before the start it stopped.
I went off quick as I knew the course shortly became a narrow path where overtaking was impossible....my new trail shoes were doing their job and keeping me upright and I didn't seem to be struggling with any niggles.
Then I came to the moat....or the mudbath as it was called. I looked left, I looked right and then was brought down by a lady who was right in front of me. As I fell I put my arms out...as you do....and placed my hands on her back pushing her deeper into the mud! Serves her right....I'd have been alright if she hadn't have fallen!!
Legs covered in mud I carried on and was able to pick up momentum and maintain my place.....then came the mudbath for the second time....straight though it I went...mud up to my shins. By now my new shoes were a lovely shade of brown!
Having gone off too quick I did suffer in the last lap so lost a place or 3 and therefore didn't finish as high up the field as last year...56th as opposed to 50th. Still not bad considering the conditions.
After I'd finished I cheered on the rest of the team through the mudbath...unfortunately one of them, our leading lady, looked up , smiled and promptly slipped over and into the mud! Blamed me for supporting her!!
I was the 2nd LRR man home...luckily 2 quick guys didn't take part.
SWMBO also ran and did very well to come home as 3rd LRR lady.
Fellow RF member LEECE having recently joined LRR ran very well too...her first competitive club race...what a one to do first off!!
We left, after having had our coffees and cakes in the clubhouse, just as it started to pour down .....

I am quite concerned about you Steve... is that poor lady still face down in the mudbath?
And what have you got against lady runners... taking two out in one race!
