Need advice on warm up routine

I do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaYaOuSLLqc&t=216s routine before my runs. And i run 5 days a week.
I'm just wondering if this extensive warm up routine is safe to do 5 times a week? safe as in i dont want to overtrain and leave my muscles exhausted and worn out.

This topic has been discussed many a times in this forum - one thread was 2 weeks or so ago (about stretching). Many of us do not do any pre- warm up and stretching routine... just step outside and put yourself into 1st gear (or perhaps 0.4th or 0.5th gear) and go from there..that's the - I'd say "most natural" - warm up routine in itself.. we seem to have overcomplicated a basic discipline such as running requiring a complex warm up routine..

Had a look at that video - tbh, personally I think some of the moves are too risky on your "cold" hamstrings if done too vigorously.. and it does seem to go overboard. Cannot comment on your "overtrain" and "exhausted" parts - my comments were more "do I do any pre-routine" related.

If your warm-up routine leaves you exhausted and warn-out, it doesn't sound like a very good warm-up

I do a dynamic warm up before speed work, but only after a warm up jog and it's usually only a few things like high knees etc. Before most other runs the only warm up is a chatty paced run for a few minutes.

I agree with silent88uk. That's not so much a "warm up" as a cardio routine in and of itself, and I wouldn't do it before any runs let alone 5 times a week.

I think you're mixing up warmups and drills and specific strengthening sessions.

As a general rule I don't warmup or cool down, I just run slower before a session and then repeat and stretch after it's finished.

I am a PT the only warm up i do is to walk for a few mins before i start running gives the lungs time to aclimatise to the different temp, doing pre stretches actually reduce the muscle function for up to 20 mins , if you really want to stretch, walk for a few mins then do some dynamic stretches, personally i would not advice to do stationary stretches on cold muscles

Reminds of that scene in Zombieland where whatshisname tells woody harlson he should stretch before running, woody replies "You ever see a lion limber up before it takes down a gazelle?"

The only warmup i do before a workout/hard run is just to jog beforehand, which seems to work so far for me.
