Would have to split country, and with some journalistic licence, into SW, NW, NE and SE I think.

Well done to you too, Dave. Are you planning your next race already like me?? That was a great finishing time - I'd be more than happy with that

I agree TT. Bloody stupid.
Surely the chip time should take precedence.
Rob.
Thanks for that.
My next race is a local 5k X-Country on Good Friday.
See if I can beat my Boxing day time.

You would think so, it doesn't make it a fair race, how do they expect to get nearly 2000 people through the start in one go, man I have issues with this....

I know I had never run in a half marathon before, but I cant believe how much my legs hurt after Sunday.
They feel like they used to after the 1st game of the season when I was playing football.
I suppose it shows that it doesn`t matter how much training you do, there is nothing like a race to make you push yourself that bit harder.
Must take SWMBO out again tonight though. Now she`s started I must keep her at it......

You really know you have done it properly when your legs ache the next day, I am feeling it too.
Has the good lady been running long?

Arrghh my legs.
Still aching from Sunday aswel.
Day off yesterday helped a bit but couldn't face the speed work in my schedule today so took it nice and easy.
I agree with you both,TT and Dave.
You probably couldn't get more than 20 people across the width of the Brentwood start if you tried.I don't think they would have appreciated it if you had forced your way to the front either.
Is there a system for deciding who gets at the front of the line on such races?I suppose there must be.

Had a debate with a guy in work today, who believes the gun time is the official time but he was talking from a club runner point of view in terms of points, but I personally think it's a bit of a safety net...
I am only interested in my time and where I come in the pack, maybe this is a selfish point of view, if there are going to bother with chipping the race may as well give the stats both ways round.
by the way granty what was your course like?

How the hell can the gun time be the official time, most of us 'normal' runners take a good 5-10 minutes to actually cross the line, next time I might line up at the front then for a laugh !! - slim chance I might actually lead the race for 30 meters or so !!
The bath course was OK, not keen on the 2 circuit nonsense, kind of disheartening to pass the 6,7,8 etc miles markers thinking I have to get back here as well. Saying that, the crowd were fantastic and seemed to be numerous and vocal msot of the way around.
