I know - I got lapped  - he was flying when he passed me and to the un trained eye looked to not be sweating as well.
Bet he did not have to queue to get his bag when he finished

Well done SE and congratulations on your PB. Keep 'em coming. You've thrown down the gauntlet for our ten miler in the Lake District next Saturday!
Cheers!

[The bath course was OK, not keen on the 2 circuit nonsense, kind of disheartening to pass the 6,7,8 etc miles markers thinking I have to get back here as well. Saying that, the crowd were fantastic and seemed to be numerous and vocal msot of the way around.[/quote]
Brandshatch was like that aswell, when I saw the 3 mile marker and few yards down was the 8 mile marker, and I thought great got to go back up that chuffing hill again....

...or words to that effect eh Twinks!
I don't mind 2 lap courses...perhaps because I don't really look about me when I'm running.

Well done Dave! Great time!
...and everyone else who was 'undercover' at Brentwood
Granty... so apart from the lap thing, did you like the course, or did you find it a bit bland and/or depressing?
Brentwood sounds nice...I like races that go out into the countryside a bit.

I knew what you meant when I was running it.
The long road out of Bath along Victoria park was quite nice but when you got to turn around by the park and ride was quite dull, with that massive brick wall on the right hand side.
Definately preferred Bristol, quite like the Portway.
Sounds like Bentwood could be the an ideal place for the Forum meet

No Steve, all I've ever done in the Lakes are Fell and Forest trail races. Half marathons are a bit far for me now - unless they're off-road!
Cheers!

I'm sure a wiley fox like yourself will have no problems beating my time. I'll be going up to the Lake District in September staying in Ambleside - where is good to run round that area?

There's nothing easy. The classic walk/run/race is the Fairfield Horseshoe (9 miles/3,000ft) that starts and finishes at Rydal Hall. It takes in Nab Scar and Heron Pike on its way north to Fairfield and returns by Hart Crag and Dove Crag.
Sometimes we camp at Tarn Foot by Loughrigg Tarn and run over and around Loughrigg Fell. The Loughrigg race route (3 miles/1,000ft) starts and finishes at Millans Park just behind the church at Ambleside.
But if you're there on the 16th you MUST go to the Rosthwaite Show in Borrowdale which is a really entertaining day out. It also includes a 4.5 mile fell race to the top of Dale Head and back which you might like to enter for the sake of something different!
Cheers!

It was perfect weather for the 5th Grizedale 10 mile Trail Race on Saturday - sunny and clear - so there were incredible views of surrounding mountains and Coniston Water as we sped around the Forest tracks. They moved the start of the race this year so the first three miles were mainly downhill, which lured quite a few people into starting too fast - including me! I covered them in 21.42 then suffered in the next steep uphill mile (10.53) before settling into my race pace of just under 8 minute miling. Overall the course has 1,350 ft of ascent so it's not easy for geriatric joggers like me!
Considering it was my first race of the season I was quite happy with my finish time of 78.06, four minutes faster than last year. But I'd a bit of a fright at the prize-giving when they announced some other MV70 as the winner. "Ow'd on a bit, what was that chap's time" I enquired. "He was 163rd in 89.38" I was told. "Well you'd better look a bit nearer the front" I said. I was actually 107th so came away with a bottle of bubbly and a box of chocolates to celebrate with!
Cheers!
