So final club champs on Sunday.....I'll be the only one in the club to have run all 12 events....and SWMBO the lady with most events run...11/12.


Next year will be age graded as opposed to first past the post....but before I get you bored with all that the report from Bungay Marathon will follow sometime next week.......

Ok then here it is...the final club champs race report for the season!

It all started with a very poor night's sleep.....though the flip side of that meant I was up at 5am to eat 2 bananas.

Having gathered kit for both good weather and bad SWMBO and I left home just after 9am for the 10:30 start at Bungay. (So nice not to have to drive a long way for a marathon!) The sky was clear and there was even some sunshine....BUT as we pulled into the car park the clouds had gathered and just as we got into clubhouse the snow started..and how for a good 20mins. Cold weather gear then...including my wooly hat...I decided.

Fortunately it had stopped snowing by the time we gathered at the start and in fact it wasn't that cold. Having wished SWMBO and the other 2 club runners good luck I was off...firstly..for 200 yards or so with SWMBO and then on my mission to get round asap! I started the Garmin 305 kindly leant to me by Leece as soon as the starter sent us on our way....meaning I started my race from behind the start line by what turned out to be quite a way. In fact by the time I reached the official 1 mile marker the Garmin registered 1.1m.

By the time the 2 mile point was reached the climbing had begun...and this was the way of things for the next 5 or so miles...up and down all the way. I was going at the desired pace to get me to halfway in good pb time and was settled into a rhythm as I passed the 7mile point where Leece and other club members (all of whom had been at the start with us to take our drinks for us to this 7/20 mile point...bless 'em) where waiting. Feeling warm I disposed of the wooly hat and grabbed my next bottle of drink...smiled at the camera and charged off on my way...feeling good.

mmmm got to go food shopping now, not sure what to eat myself.......... would like a banana sand but its not good for a dinner is it.
