V, Its not your running you need to work on but your self belief and confidence, We all know you are a very capable runner, so listen to Mrs Hitler above and get that booty moving with some intervals

Vonnie, that's exactly what I thought but now I'm actually enjoying them. I think the key thing is not to go too fast - aim for a pace that you know you will be able to maintain for whatever you have decided to do.
Last week (my first attempt for years) I was aiming for 4 or 5 lots of 3 minutes fast 3 recovery (although ended up doing 6). As you seem to have a preference for longish runs I think something like that might suit you. Try it and see. Even if you just end up doing one its a start!

Edit: ..... but if you do end up just doing one it probably means you were going too fast!

Pryamids are also good. run as fast as you can for 3,2,1 mins with a 30 sec rest in between and repeat 1,2,3 etc When you get to the 3 mins section it's a killer but boy do you feel good when you do it

All taken on board girlies i will give it a wizz and see how i go. I may even try a 20 minute interval session in the morning before work if i feel energetic enough. I use to do loads of intervals on the treadmill but rarely use it these days. Will have play around with mr garmin see if i can set up a interval session short one to start with.

Will give pyramid a go one day lol once i have gotten into intervals, thanks for the advice and encouragement girlies your'e the best. I will think of mrs hitler shouting when i am going for it all out haha !!!

Just a thought.. were are we all based? We should try and find a race worth doing that we all could try and get to?

Add your name to the list...

Sounds like a plan Stan! (I may be a bit far away but if I had enough warning might be able to persuade hubby to arrange a holiday round it. (We quite often travel up to Reading and usually 'do' Brighton once a year if that's any help.)

Waterlily - Welcome back to running . I've just had a peek at your blog (I always feel like I'm snooping when I'm doing this) and your plan (small runs plus core strengthening sounds spot on to me.)

Ta darlin! It feels good to be back out there, but I'm really going to have to take it easy on the old hip - it's still sore, though less so than on my last run which bodes well!

Lisa, this looks good! I did mention it to the silent one - rolling eyes doesn't quite cover it! However, I'm working on plan B, which could mean me and the big chimp come along. I'll see how the old hip's holding up over the next week or so!
