I've just had another look at the website for the Cross Bay and am jealous, it looks like brilliant fun!

Talking of fun, 2 x very enjoyable runs from me at the weekend - 13.1 on Saturday as a practice run for the half I'm doing in two weeks. It included 1 mile that took 17 1/2 minutes as it was along a very very muddy footpath - ankle deep in places - it was difficult enough walking and staying upright let alone running!
Also an easy three yesterday including 4 minutes in bare feet - something I'm dabbling in at the moment. (The bare foot part was done in a very secluded field - I'm a bit paranoid about people seeing me in case they think I really have gone barking mad (probably true but I don't want too many people to know.)

I'm still lurking around here but my back and hip joints are still stiff and a bit sore - went to the physio and she did some work on them, but I'm off to visit my daughter and grandchildren in the Big Apple next week and don't want to risk getting more pain! So, I'm off for a brisk walk now and may not run till I get back mid-August - bloomin' ageing body :-(

Have a great time in NYC Pam.

After not going a run for 12 days I did a nice 5 miler tonight. My knee has been sore and achey and then the lack of running made my mojo go awol for a few day. I have been doing plenty of cycling though the past few days, so not been completely idol. I need to do a longish run the next couple of weekends in preparation for Cross the Bay, but any speed work is out as I don't want my knee to flare up again.

How exciting - hope you have a brilliant time . (Don't worry about not running -mid August isn't that far off now! (This year seems to be going by at a really scary rate!) )

Judy - hope your knee sorts itself out.

6.2 done last night after work - what a scorcher. I didn't know I could sweat so much!

Hope you enjoy New York Pam, I'm envious

I did a 12.2 mile run this morning. I took it steady then picked up the pace for the last couple of miles. I'm paying for it now, legs and bum are really aching.

Who has entered for Cross the Bay now, I'm started to plan my journey there seeing as it's only a couple of weeks away. I've never done a race that starts in the afternoon, obviously it has to tie in with the tide though. I'll be bringing food to eat when I get there, what is anyone else doing?

Question is - should I take my running kit?? Or, should I take a proper break and re-start when I get back? I can't decide.

I'd take it. It won't take up much room in your case, and if you don't you might wish you had. I was reading about High Line park in New York, that sounds a lovely place for a morning jog

My daughter lives out of Manhattan in Queens, but I could run by the Long Island Sound. I think it would have to be first thing in the day to avoid the heat, looks like 20/21 at around 7am.

Well done Judy for getting out there. Just keep it steady and the cycling will keep your fitness up. Good luck for Cross the Bay, let us know how you do....

Well done on getting your mojo back Zoe. I think mojo's are like little furry animals, unless you keep them under control they are inclined to go wandering off and have to be found again

I followed up my 5 miler with another 5 mile run home from work on Friday and then 12 miles today
