Marathon Training advice

Can anyone help me? I did the Edinburgh Marathon last Sunday, but ran with round with a friend to the extent that I didn't push/hurt myself. I now don't want to waste 16 weeks of training, and would ideally like to run another Marathon as soon as possible.

I have no idea if this is sensible, and if so, what kind of programme should I follow? If I do Dundee in 8 weeks for example, could I possibly just do the last 8 weeks of my training schedule again?

I don't see why not. Just make sure you're properly recovered after Edinburgh.

I also ran Ed. just signed up for Liverpool in mid Oct.

If I don't enter races, there is always a risk of losing motivation.

If you got through the run on Sunday OK, treat the marathon as if it was your standard weekend long run (if a long one), and carry on with training as normal - 'starting' a program from 8 weeks out sounds like a pretty good place to start for me. (It may be worth being a little careful with the first few runs, just to be sure that you're sufficiently recovered from the marathon.)
