Running everyday?

Is this a good idea? Do many of you do it?

I'm running every other day at the moment (mon-fri) as I find if I run everyday, my legs really struggle.

always good to have days off hun - its in these days off that our bodies rest, recover and get stronger for the next challenge we give them.

if we dont have rest days (especially when we're new to running) we risk injuries and fatigue

enjoy your rest days hun - youve earned them, and when you are having them thats when your body is repairing and strengthening itself for your next run .

(thats what trev and angie's marathon podcasts recommend anyway )

I've never ran more than 4 times a week, but some people run twice a day, seven days a week, so there's no right or wrong.

Whatever you do, build it up slowly, and listen to your body - if you're struggling or are tired, take a rest day.

Depends at what level you are currently running and how quickly you want to improve, a rest day for the faster people can be a 5mile jog or even 2x5mile jogs

You don't need to run everyday, focus on 3 key sessions a week. intervals, a sustained pace run and a longer run, anything else should be run slowly.

I run around 40 miles over 5-6 runs a week with 2-3 quality runs, by quality i mean tempo/tempo intervals, marathon pace, intervals and reps, all the rest are easy runs

Run as much as you can without hurting yourself. Your body will tell you when its time to stop.

I used to run every day and was obsessed with mileage. Now I go by the adage of quality rather than quantity.

I'll run whenever I feel like I can go for a run. Sometimes it might be three or four days on the trot, sometimes it'll be just once that week. If I feel like I can go for a run on consecutive days without hurting myself then I will, but never more than three miles per run. I like going for just a quick half hour run when I get home from work. Otherwise I just veg on the sofa and eat crisps and watch CSI
