Do you ever think we are a bit insane?
I just got back from a 14 mile run and suddenly thought we runners are actually a bit insane. This really isn't normal behaviour. No wonder non-runners think we are mad. I mean, who the hell in their right mind thinks going out and running for a couple of hours on a Sunday is a good thing to do? But it does feel oh so good afterwards I've never actually thought I was a bit mad until today. I guess I might be a bit more crazy than most you, since I'm not actually training to race or anything, so I put myselg through this for nothing. Oh well, I have a nice two days off. My woman is staying over tomorow night and I have a friend's birthday dinner on tuesday. I think my body needs a rest. I feel wrecked. Ran a different route today, and 3 miles of it was on a track by a river. It was muddy, hilly and a couple of places were a bunch of steep steps, which was great fun

I am told I am a bit insane - but thats not important right now...
I completely agree, its almost karma... you go out on a lovely balmy/invigorating run - taking in the fresh air and surroundings (unless you live in Coventry), and you just think why is everyone else in bed! At first I thought - why am I doing this, but these days it makes me feel I am out there living life and doing something virtuous. It gives me something to bore others about too... but at least it keeps me healthy and gives me goals plus I get to see different places, inspirational people and help encourage others as I have never really been 'into' anything as much as this (even reading ideas on other websites, buying the gear and signing my life away!) I'm hooked thats for sure...plus it justifies that glass of red wine and pudding! I feel sorry for anyone that hasnt even tried it.

Lol @ Steve.
Talk to anyone passionate about their hobby and you will see exactly what people see in ourselves
We are not insane, insane was spending the last 10 years sleeping off a hangover on a Sunday whilst piling on 5 stone.

I've certainly had my moments when I've questioned my sanity running in pitch black, freezing winter at 6am, but not as much as my colleagues did today when I turned up in my running gear, dripping in sweat after an 11 mile run on the way to work and then seeing their bemused look when I told them I'd also done 8 miles last night after work as well, LOL. they do make the obligatory 'Forrest Gump' jokes but I think they might secretly admire my dedication to the insanity

I think you may have something here JB, I have on more than one occasion questioned my sanity and wonder why I do this
Well it must be the sense of achievement
