In my case yes but I think that's just a coincidence.
I think that very short races are over too quickly and even though they may leave you with good memories ( I will never forget 3 of my 800m races) they are always quite short.
Longer distances may "take too long".
The Marathon has it's magic because it is so hard to train for it and to stay healthy and keep it that way until race day.
So many things can go wrong that if you just finish it you have already been rewarded.
So, back to the point, I like races between 3K and 10K the most, because they give you a lot of time to test yourself and think about what's going on but not enough to start thinking about what's for lunch later (like I find myself wondering in most half-marathons).
